Tell Your Story

Everyday, teens across Florida are learning about sex, whether it’s from teachers, textbooks or even peers or the media. And it's not always 100% accurate.

“If you have sex on top, you can’t get pregnant.”

The best way to prevent contracting HIV is by using a condom, “or you can drink a little bit of bleach and you will be alright.”

“You can contract a sexually transmitted infection by sitting on a hotel bed or sitting on a toilet.”

“Condoms provide no proven reduction in protection against Chlamydia, the most common bacterial STD.”
Abstinence-Only curriculum, Choosing the Best PATH , Leader Guide, p. 18

(According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), when used consistently and correctly, condoms reduce the risk of STDs, including Chlamydia.)
