The well-being of a community is only as good as the well-being of the individuals who reside in the community. The purpose of this article is to describe a community-based participatory action project in a South Florida county to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS and to discuss important lessons learned in the process.

CHICAGO - Nearly half of HIV-positive U.S. adolescents and young adults are unaware of their infection, and less than a quarter of sexually active high school students are tested for the virus, U.S. health officials said on Thursday.
